Resumo

O desenvolvimento do vocabulário é um componente fundamental no processo de aquisição de idiomas, pois afeta diretamente a capacidade de entender e produzir mensagens de forma eficaz. Nesse contexto, o uso de ferramentas tecnológicas, como o Memrise, torna-se um recurso valioso para aprimorar esse aprendizado. Essa plataforma educacional on-line apoia os alunos na aquisição de idiomas e outras áreas do conhecimento por meio de estratégias como repetição espaçada, gamificação e uso de conteúdo interativo, o que facilita a retenção e o uso prático do vocabulário em contextos reais. Por esse motivo, o objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o efeito do Memrise na retenção de vocabulário de alunos do ensino médio de inglês como idioma estrangeiro. Foi utilizada uma metodologia de design de métodos mistos, na qual o vocabulário e as percepções de 30 alunos do ensino médio foram avaliados por meio de pré e pós-testes e entrevistas semiestruturadas. Os dados foram analisados estatística e tematicamente, integrando o Excel e o Atlas.ti para uma compreensão abrangente. O estudo começou com um questionário de 20 itens para avaliar a retenção de vocabulário em inglês, evidenciando dificuldades significativas nos alunos. Após uma intervenção de quatro semanas com o Memrise, os resultados do pós-teste mostraram que 90% dos participantes aumentaram seu desempenho. A ferramenta se destacou por sua interatividade e eficácia na retenção, embora tenha sido sugerida maior personalização e reforço gramatical.
